Corruption increases marginally in India over the last two years

This is not something new for the Indians who have become used to their daily doses of corruption pills, some managing to become aloof or indifferent to it, some are crying themselves hoarse over the issue while there are others who have submerged themselves in corruption enticed by a life full of splendor. However, some statistics from Transparency International might help has assess for ourselves where we actually stand this year regards international corruption perspective.

In fact, over the last two years India has become marginally more corrupt. Our position has dipped from 72 to 85 among 180 countries of the world. We might be content with the statistical fact that our arch rival Pakistan is more corrupt than us ranking 134 in the list and we have scored a brownie over another rival who is moving at a faster pace than us in all fields but here is one place where we have managed to outdo them – we’ve defeated China (rank 72) in the corruption game.

The most corrupt institution in India is the infamous police force followed by the politicians and in the third place is the custodian of our constitutional rights – the judiciary. If you are tired of all this corruption cacophony then for some incorruptible peace of mind, plan a trip to Denmark – the most honest spot on this planet.

That marginal increase is a huge quantity given the sheer size, scope and spread of corruption in India. It is like if the US economy grows by even 2 percent, it will be more than India's economy that is growing around 7-8 percent.

It is still increasing and not decreasing. It shows that India is getting more and more corrupt with each passing year.
It is so damn depressing to see this happening to our beloved country when we should focus solely on development and prosperity which corruption doesn't allow.

I agree that we came down 13 places in ranking. But the amount of corruption has not decreased its just comparative analysis of other nations which have increased corruption rate since last year.

Policemen still excepting bribes, politician still making millions and putting money in Swiss Bank. Poor getting poorer day by day. So what is the advantage of gaining 1st rank and still having corruption nationwide.

Nice, I hope India climbs further up the chart in the list of the most corrupt countries and beat countries like Nigeria and Russia. Marginal rise in corruption in the headline almost sounds like an improvement on the front!
